Bio

As an artist, I see myself as an explorer. I am constantly trying new media, learning about techniques and developing new skills. My work is very hands-on. I enjoy combining different media and techniques together to come up with something completely different.

Most of my work is in reaction to things that are happening in my life or in my surrounding environment. Sometimes it is an issue I feel connected to or an emotion I need to address. I tend to create things that have a sense of movement, that are organic in nature yet have a sense of orderliness to them.

In the past I have worked with such media as painting, drawing, collage and printmaking as well as ceramics, sculpture and fiber structures. I have also worked with digital arts such as photo editing and video editing software. I have produced a documentary video and created some short artistic films. Yet, the media I have been most drawn to is printmaking because of its physical demands and structured nature.

As an art educator, my thirst for knowledge is quite useful. As I am constantly trying new techniques I am capable of teaching diverse media. Through art education I like to open people’s eyes to the world around them, whether I am teaching young children, teenagers or adults. I like to teach in a comfortable, organized, safe and fun atmosphere. I want my students to feel at home in the studio or classroom; for it to be a place where they can be creative, express themselves, share ideas and enjoy themselves all while learning about art.
